Classic looks + modern technology = reliable fun

The front suspension arms have a split seem, which can open up.  This one, fortunately, hasn't.

To prevent possibility of them opening up in future they were welded, and then the inside diameter reamed.  There isn't a great deal of support here so they were strengthened using an additional piece of metal.  This would also box the wishbone, making it considerably stronger, and less prone to collecting debris from the road.

The top half wishbones were similarly modified.

The bolts originally used between the wishbones and the brackets on the chassis were incorrectly sized.  As a consequence the threaded part of the bolt wears quickly, creating excess movement, and weakening the bolt.

Using a 3" long bolt ensures that only the unthreaded part of the bolt is in shear.  Check carefully though as the standard thread may be insufficient to ensure the nut tightens up to the bracket.  A few extra threads may need to be cut using a split die.  A thick washer should also be used to give a little extra space to ensure it tightens correctly.
